Blackpool recall Ethan Robson from MK Dons loan spell after standing offers rejected

Blackpool have recalled Ethan Robson from his season-long loan at MK Dons.

The midfielder had a successful spell at Milton Keynes, working his way into their starting lineup after a spell out of the side and putting in a man of the match performance in their last outing against Portsmouth.

Given the lack of central midfield options for the sailors, this will serve as a boost as they seek to add depth to this area of the pitch, with transfer deals still ongoing to add to this area.

Reports suggest MK Dons have had two standing offers for the midfielder turned down and Blackpool have now opted to recall him from his loan spell.

Robson was a good performer for the Tangerines in Ligue 1, but the unfortunate moment of injury saw him drop out of the pecking order and eventually leave on loan this summer.

His return alongside the expected return of Kevin Stewart will help relieve Kenny Dougall who was the only natural central midfielder fit to play in the FA Cup loss to Hartlepool.

MK Dons sporting director and former Seasiders analyst Liam Sweeting said: “We are very disappointed to lose Ethan but, at the end of the day, we have to respect the decision of his parent club Blackpool.

“Ethan has contributed to a strong first half of the season and he leaves with our gratitude and best wishes for the rest of the season.”

“As with all players, we have plans in place should they leave Football Club. Work is already well advanced to strengthen our squad for the remaining weeks of the transfer window.”

The Tangerines are continuing their market research and have launched an investigation into Forest Green midfielder Ebou Adams, while talks for Cameron Brannagan with Oxford have stalled with differing valuations between the two clubs.

Robson will be eligible for the Seasiders’ next league game on Saturday against Millwall
